I didn't see any scalability problems when I was running the mail servers at AOL. At least, not on this side.

Just because you bought bargain-basement lowest-possible-cost Internet access doesn't mean that you bought the right to set up whatever servers you want and to have completely and totally unfettered access.

If you want completely unrestricted access, then you should be prepared to pay extra for it. If you don't like that policy, you can always go somewhere else.
