It's not an issue of wanting to. They're playing favorites, which just doesn't seem right. Jeff Regardless, there's no point in getting bent out of shape over this - I've always understood this practice to have been going on for a very many years now, and it hasn't been rare to see the root servers running a patch release not available to the general public. Just now, however, we're seeing this practice openly stated and formalized.
