We've recently experienced two separate problems with whois which may have resulted in slow response and in one case a 24 hour delay in propagation of updates. The first and primary cause was due to a denial of service attack at whois. The initiating location has been temporarily disabled from access to the infrastructure. The second cause was due to excessive internal loading on the back end data base this morning. Those activities have been discontinued. _____________________________________ David H.
