Well a rwhois(client) call to nii.isi.edu done thusly, rwhois -h nii.isi.edu:43 fp.k12.wa.us Returns : Referral Whois (RWhois) spec version 1.0 (InterNIC V-1.0BETA4) Connecting to [nii.isi.edu] port  -> command line server RWhois Server at nii-server.isi.edu version V-1.0: Connecting to [rwhois.internic.net] port  Punt referral to higher authority ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Connecting to [rwhois] port  Punt referral to higher authority <ERROR> Can't find host 'rwhois'.
