Whether the .net and .com zone files are valid or not is really irrelevant for your argument - since the zone file served by the root servers is only for the . zone, not the .net or .com zones any more. The zone file the _root servers_ hold IS therefore a valid zone file. Whatever junk Verisign puts into the com. and net. zones does not implicate the . zone servers at all. /leg
